Welcome to AImhungry ("we", "our", or "ours"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we collect and use your information. This Privacy Policy explains our practices.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

2.2 How We Handle AI API Keys

Critically Important: AImhungry does NOT collect or store your AI provider API keys on any server. The keys are stored ONLY on your device using encrypted storage (expo-secure-store for iOS, SecureStorage for Android). When you use the app, images are sent directly to the AI provider's servers (e.g., openai.com, ai.googleapis.com).

We do NOT have access to your API keys. We do NOT log or track your AI usage patterns. Your privacy is our priority.

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide core functionality: Analyze fridge photos, suggest recipes, generate ingredient lists
To customize experience: Remember your dietary preferences and pantry staples
To maintain history: Save your recipe scans locally for future reference
NOT to sell data: We never sell or share your personal information with third parties

4. Data Storage and Retention

Local-First Architecture

All your data is stored locally on your device:

Fridge photos: Temporary local storage during session, deleted when app closes (unless you manually save)
User preferences: AsyncStorage/SQLite on your device
API keys: Encrypted using expo-secure-store platform-specific security
Scan history: Local JSON storage in app directory

5. Third-Party Services

AI Providers

When you use AImhungry, your images are transmitted to AI provider servers directly (not through our servers):

Google Gemini: Transmitted to ai.googleapis.com
OpenAI: Transmitted to api.openai.com
Anthropic Claude: Transmitted to api.anthropic.com

We have NO access to your data sent to these providers. We only receive JSON responses with recipe suggestions.

Local Dependencies

The app uses open-source libraries (React Native, Expo, Zustand) which may have their own privacy policies. We do not collect data through these dependencies.

6. Security Measures

API Keys: Encrypted using platform-specific secure storage (iOS Keychain, Android Keystore)
Data Transmission: All communication with AI providers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
No Backend Server: Zero backend means no central data repository to breach
Local Storage: Device-level sandboxing protects your app data from other apps

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access and delete your stored photos through app settings or device management
Clear all local data by uninstalling the app
Revoke access to camera and photo library at any time in device settings
Delete your API keys from secure storage anytime

8. Children's Privacy

AImhungry is not intended for children under 13 (or applicable age in your region). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The updated version will be effective immediately upon posting. We encourage you to review this policy regularly.
